Three Quetta Police Officers Suspended After Detainee Allegedly Commits Suicide in Custody

Quetta: Following the alleged suicide of a detainee at New Sariab Police Station, Quetta’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) has suspended three police officers for negligence and ordered a formal investigation into the incident.

The deceased, Israr Ahmed, son of Mohammad Anwar from the Qalandrani community, was a wanted criminal named in multiple serious cases across various police stations. He faced three murder and attempted murder cases at Sariab Police Station, two theft cases at City Police Station, and was also under investigation for snatching and illegal possession of arms at New Sariab Police Station. A motorcycle stolen on 27th Ramadan was also recovered from his possession.

Police sources confirmed that the post-mortem report found no signs of physical torture or assault and declared the cause of death as suicide. The DIG has instructed authorities to conduct a thorough inquiry to uncover all facts surrounding the case.
