Four Killed in Separate Incidents in Balochistan, Including Iranian National; Child Dies in Lightning Strike

Quetta/Gwadar/Bolan (April 1, 2026): At least four people were killed and one injured in separate incidents of firing in Quetta and Gwadar, while a young girl lost her life in a lightning strike in Bolan district, officials said on Wednesday.

In Gwadar, unidentified armed men opened fire on Pileri Link Road, killing three individuals identified as Ghulam Qadir, Arshad, and Qambar. According to police, one of the deceased was an Iranian national from Chabahar. The attackers fled the scene, and the motive behind the incident remains unknown. Police have registered a case and launched a search operation.

In a separate incident in Quetta, armed assailants attacked in the Hazara Ganji area, killing a bakery owner, Ehtesham Gujjar, on the spot. A passerby was also seriously injured in the firing and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The attack caused panic in the area, forcing shops to close, while police cordoned off the site and began collecting evidence. Authorities said a large-scale search operation is underway to apprehend the suspects.

Meanwhile, in Dhadar, a tragic incident occurred when lightning struck during a spell of rain and thunder in the Agriculture Colony, killing a young girl. She was brought to the District Headquarters Hospital but had already succumbed to her injuries. The lightning strike also caused an explosion in an electricity transformer at the agriculture office, damaging infrastructure.

Police and local authorities are investigating all incidents, while no immediate causes have been confirmed. Officials have assured that those responsible for the attacks will be brought to justice.
