Successful Berthing of New Vessel at Gwadar Port Highlights Strategic Importance Amid Regional Tensions

Gwadar: A special vessel, MV H.M.O Leader, was successfully berthed at Gwadar Port, where 35 units of transshipment cargo were handled, marking a significant development for the port’s operations.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry stated that amid regional tensions, Gwadar Port is emerging as a secure maritime hub, attracting global shipping lines as a safe alternative. He noted that disruptions in traditional shipping routes have increased Gwadar’s strategic importance.
The minister highlighted that transshipment cargo now benefits from free storage facilities, enhancing the port’s competitive position. Gwadar Port and its free zone have the capacity to handle 16,000 TEUs of containers, with over 90,000 square meters of storage available for general cargo.
Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry emphasized that Gwadar Port will play a pivotal role in the development of the Blue Economy and regional trade.
