Contract Health Employees in Kalat Deprived of Salaries for Over Five Months, Demand Immediate Action

Quetta:Newly appointed contract employees in the Kalat district’s health department have not received their salaries for over five months, pushing many to the brink of financial desperation. According to health workers, both the District Health Officer (DHO) and the Medical Superintendent (MS) of DHQ Hospital Kalat have shown no serious intent to resolve the issue.
The employees expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Balochistan and the Chief Secretary for creating health department positions and advertising them through local newspapers. However, despite fulfilling their daily duties, the newly appointed staff members—mostly from underprivileged families—have been left without pay since their appointment, with some even facing hunger at home due to the prolonged delay.
Workers allege that local authorities are deliberately using delaying tactics and making excuses, causing immense mental and financial distress. While contract employees in other districts are regularly receiving their salaries, Kalat’s staff are being treated with neglect and discrimination.
“This treatment is nothing short of unjust. The people of Kalat deserve equal respect and rights. Denying salaries to hardworking staff is a grave injustice that cannot be ignored,” said a representative of the employees.
They have called upon the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Secretary of Health, Director General Health, and Deputy Commissioner Kalat to intervene immediately and ensure that the long-overdue salaries are released. The employees emphasized that timely payment is crucial to maintaining morale and ensuring continued service delivery in the health sector.
