Govt Providing Over Rs127 Subsidy on Petrol, Rs200 on Diesel; Austerity Measures Enforced

Islamabad: Federal Minister Musadik Malik has revealed that the government is providing significant subsidies on petroleum products, offering more than Rs127 per liter on petrol and over Rs200 per liter on diesel to ease the burden on the public.

He stated that under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has refrained from increasing fuel prices, particularly to support farmers and low-income groups.

Highlighting austerity measures, the minister said that government vehicles have been grounded to conserve fuel, while the prime minister has canceled his foreign visits. Additionally, a complete ban has been imposed on foreign trips by federal ministers and advisors as part of a cost-cutting campaign.

Musadik Malik emphasized that the government is taking practical steps to provide relief to the poor by shifting the financial burden onto the wealthy.

Referring to rising regional tensions, particularly between Iran and Israel, he stressed the need for national unity and adoption of austerity measures to steer the country through challenging times.
