Peshawar Considers Second Ring Road Project with Estimated Cost of PKR 60 Billion

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is evaluating a second ring road project in Peshawar, with an estimated cost of up to PKR 60 billion.

A key meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi, focused on the proposed outer ring road for the southern parts of the city. The planned road will stretch approximately 31 kilometers, covering Peshawar’s southern areas.

Officials said the project aims to reduce traffic congestion and boost commercial activities. The proposed timeline for completion is around three years, with initial cost estimates ranging between PKR 50 to 60 billion.

CM Afridi emphasized incorporating suitable interchanges for public convenience and planning the project to meet future needs. He also directed the National Highway Authority to take steps for an interchange at the Peshawar Bus Terminal, which would allow direct access without entering city traffic.

Additionally, the meeting instructed authorities to explore the possibility of including a BRT track on the new ring road.
