Good News for Electricity Consumers: NEPRA Approves Government’s Request to Maintain Basic Tariff

Islamabad: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved the government’s request to maintain the basic electricity tariff across the country, ensuring stable rates for consumers, including K-Electric users.
According to Express News, NEPRA’s approval means the government will now issue a notification for the basic tariff, which will remain in effect from January 1, 2026.
Under the new tariff structure, domestic consumers’ highest rate will remain PKR 47.69 per unit, while protected consumers using 1–100 units will continue to pay PKR 10.54 per unit. For 101–200 units, the tariff will remain PKR 13.01 per unit.
For non-protected domestic consumers, the details are as follows:
1–100 units: PKR 22.44 per unit
101–200 units: PKR 28.91 per unit
201–300 units: PKR 33.10 per unit
301–400 units: PKR 37.99 per unit
401–500 units: PKR 40.22 per unit
501–600 units: PKR 41.62 per unit
601–700 units: PKR 42.76 per unit
NEPRA held a hearing on the government’s request for a uniform tariff today and finalized the rates, confirming that electricity consumers will not face any increase under the new basic tariff starting next year.
