Ahmad Massoud Criticizes Taliban for Alleged Support of Terror Groups and War Economy

Islamabad: The Afghan Taliban regime is facing growing criticism over alleged safe havens for militant groups, with Afghan leaders openly speaking against what they describe as support for terrorism and a war-driven economy.

Afghan politician Ahmad Massoud, leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, has strongly criticized the Taliban, accusing them of allowing militant groups to operate from Afghan territory.

Massoud said the current situation in Afghanistan is a direct result of the Taliban regime’s actions. He claimed that the country has become “a hell for its own people but a haven for terrorist groups.”

He also drew parallels with the past, alleging that just as the Taliban once sheltered Osama bin Laden and Al-Qaeda, similar patterns are emerging again. According to him, more than 20 militant groups are currently active in Afghanistan, including Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Massoud further stated that opposition to the Taliban regime imposed on Afghanistan remains strong among many Afghans.

Analysts say there is growing resentment among segments of the Afghan population against the Taliban government, particularly over allegations that Afghan territory is being used as a launching ground for militant activities. Experts also claim that many Afghans are frustrated with what they describe as authoritarian rule and insecurity under the current regime.
