Historic Air Force One Retired After 35 Years of Service, Qatar-Gifted Boeing 747 to Serve as New Presidential Aircraft

WASHINGTON:** The iconic presidential aircraft known as **Boeing VC-25 Air Force One** has been retired after more than 35 years of service, marking the end of an era in U.S. presidential aviation.

The aircraft, a specially modified Boeing 747 assigned to the President of the United States, served multiple administrations and transported American presidents on hundreds of diplomatic missions, international summits, and historic state visits since entering service in 1990.

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly took the aircraft on its final journey back to Washington after attending the recent G7 summit in France.

Following the flight, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a photograph of the aircraft on social media, describing it as a “good and faithful servant” and referring to the trip as its “last ride.”

The retirement comes as the U.S. government prepares to introduce a luxury **Boeing 747** reportedly gifted by Qatar and valued at approximately $400 million. The aircraft is expected to join the presidential fleet as a temporary replacement and serve as the new Air Force One until the next-generation presidential jets are fully operational.

Since its introduction into the U.S. Air Force fleet in 1990, the aircraft carried American presidents from George H. W. Bush through Donald Trump, becoming one of the most recognizable symbols of American presidential power and diplomacy.

With its distinctive blue-and-white livery, Air Force One has long represented the United States on the global stage, accompanying presidents wherever they traveled and serving as a flying command center during critical moments in history.
