No Discussion with U.S. Over Pasni Port; No Offer Made by Pakistan: Security Sources

ISLAMABAD: Security sources have clarified that Pakistan has made no offer regarding the Pasni Port to any country, including the United States, nor has any such proposal been considered at an official or strategic level.

According to the sources, there has been **no communication with the White House or any U.S. institution** concerning the Pasni Port. Any discussions taking place in the private sector — including those involving foreign companies — are of a **preliminary business nature** and do not represent official actions or Pakistan’s state policy.

The sources emphasized that certain media reports incorrectly portrayed a private and unverified idea as a state-level proposal. They stressed that such claims are **inaccurate and misleading**, and urged media outlets to verify any related information with the **Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)** for authenticity.

The report in question blurred the distinction between private business discussions and state policy, giving the false impression of institutional endorsement. It inconsistently referred to the proposal as both “non-governmental” and “aligned with the Army Chief’s agenda,” which the sources described as **contradictory reporting**.

They further noted that the inclusion of a U.S. official’s response to a query about a “non-governmental idea” was misleading, as it implied a government-level initiative that does not exist.

The sources reiterated that connecting a private, informal commercial concept to external strategic concerns is **an exaggeration**. They added that, like other sovereign states, Pakistan maintains a **balanced approach** in its international relations. “India trades extensively with China, engages with Russia and the U.S., and maintains ties with Iran and Israel — this is strategic autonomy. The same principle applies to Pakistan,” they said.

They confirmed that **ongoing national projects, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), remain unaffected**. Any future initiative would undergo proper **institutional, security, economic, and legal evaluations** before being considered.

In conclusion, security officials reaffirmed: “Pakistan has made no offer regarding the Pasni Port. It remains merely a private business-level concept, not under consideration at any official or policy forum.”
