Islamabad (Qudrat Roznama) – Experts have issued warnings about the potential health risks of using laptops on one’s lap, a common practice in today’s work, study, and entertainment routines.
Laptops generate heat and emit electromagnetic radiation (EMF), which may have negative effects on the body over time. While these effects may not be immediately noticeable, prolonged exposure can lead to various health issues. Experts recommend keeping laptops on desks, tables, or laptop stands instead of directly on the lap.
Key health risks of placing laptops on the lap include:
1. **Cancer Risk:** Continuous heat and radiation exposure may increase the likelihood of certain illnesses, including cancer, especially affecting sensitive organs.
2. **Skin Damage:** The heat from laptops can cause burns, rashes, or skin irritation.
3. **Neck and Back Pain:** Using laptops on the lap can lead to poor posture, resulting in neck and back pain, strained positions, and other musculoskeletal problems.
4. **Sleep Disruption:** Blue light emitted from laptop screens can interfere with melatonin production, affecting sleep quality and causing fatigue during the day.
5. **Pregnancy Risks:** Heat and radiation from laptops may negatively impact fetal health, making lap use unsafe for pregnant women.
