Eight Militants Killed as Security Forces Foil Infiltration Attempt at Pak-Afghan Border

North Waziristan — Security forces have foiled an infiltration attempt by militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing eight attackers during an exchange of fire, according to the military.

The Inter-Services Public Relations stated that troops detected suspicious movement of militants near the border in North Waziristan and launched a timely and effective operation against the group.

During the ensuing firefight, eight militants—described by officials as “externally sponsored terrorists”—were killed. A significant cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from their possession.

The military spokesperson said the incident highlights lapses in border management on the Afghan side and urged authorities in Afghanistan to ensure that their territory is not used by militant groups for attacks against Pakistan.

A sanitization operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate any remaining threats, as part of ongoing efforts to counter terrorism under the national security campaign.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for successfully thwarting the infiltration attempt. He reaffirmed that the entire nation stands firmly with the armed forces and vowed to continue operations until terrorism is completely eradicated from the country.
