60-Year-Old Hakim Babar Marries Young Woman; Videos Go Viral on Social Media

RAWALPINDI: Hakim Babar, 60, owner of Al-Noor Dawakhana, has married a young woman, with videos and photos of the wedding quickly going viral on social media.

In the viral footage, Hakim Babar can be seen placing a floral garland around the bride’s neck, while the bride appears cheerful. Family members and close relatives were also present at the ceremony, celebrating the occasion.

Speaking to the media, Hakim Babar emphasized that age difference is not of primary importance in marriage; rather, sincerity of intention and the legal and Islamic validity of the union matter most. He explained that the relationship began with mutual consent, followed by formal engagement procedures, and the marriage (Nikah) was completed according to Islamic practices.

He further stated, “I expressed my interest first, then formally proposed, and the Nikah was conducted. If a person at this age has health and resources, marriage is preferable to avoid unlawful relations, as Nikah is a Sunnah.”

Hakim Babar added that both he and his wife are happy and content at the start of their marital life, and he shared this joy with the public with gratitude. Social media reactions have been mixed; while some users are congratulating the couple, others are debating the age difference. Hakim Babar’s stance is that if both parties are adults and enter the marriage with mutual consent, it is a personal matter.
