President Asif Ali Zardari Says He Can Initiate and Ensure Success of No-Confidence Motion

Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, has asserted that he alone has the ability to bring a no-confidence motion and ensure its success.

According to sources, Zardari made the remarks during a meeting with party leaders, emphasizing that while ministerial positions and powers are secondary, the focus must remain on the politics of public service. “The real interest of the Pakistan Peoples Party is Pakistan itself, and as long as Pakistan exists, we exist,” he said, adding that during his presidency he supported Pakistan rather than seeking ministries, aiming to strengthen the party.

The president also criticized internal factionalism and inefficiencies within the party, calling for their elimination. He recalled his time in prison, noting that he never called for strikes but exercised patience and restraint.

He urged party leaders to focus on serving the people, stating that politics has no meaning without public support. Zardari referenced former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, saying Pakistan’s status as a nuclear power shaped the country’s trajectory. He also highlighted infrastructure projects in Sindh, including canal paving and bridge construction, as part of the party’s achievements.
