Pakistan and Uzbekistan Sign 28 Agreements and MoUs Across Multiple Sectors

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – Pakistan and Uzbekistan have exchanged 28 agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) across various sectors, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the President of Uzbekistan signing a joint statement.

The MoU exchange ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s House, aiming to enhance cooperation between the foreign ministries of both countries. Key agreements include the establishment of an inter-regional forum and a pact for the exchange of sentenced prisoners.

Both nations also signed MoUs to boost collaboration in the IT sector, defense, climate change and disaster management, food security, agricultural research, and plant protection. Additional agreements covered sports cooperation, mining and geosciences, science, education, and cultural heritage preservation and research.

Further agreements focused on maritime cooperation, trade facilitation, textile sector collaboration, promotion of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), cultural exchanges, pharmaceutical cooperation, and measures to prevent narcotics smuggling.

As part of the ceremony, Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was also conferred an honorary doctorate. The comprehensive agreements aim to strengthen bilateral relations and expand collaboration across economic, scientific, cultural, and social sectors.
