Punjab CTD Arrests 26 Terror Suspects in Intelligence-Based Operations

LAHORE: The **Counter Terrorism Department Punjab (CTD)** has arrested 26 terrorists across the province during intelligence-based operations (IBOs), officials confirmed on Saturday.
According to a CTD spokesperson, a total of 286 IBOs were conducted over the past month in cities including **Lahore**, **Gujranwala**, Sahiwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chakwal, Rajanpur, Narowal, Pakpattan, and **Sargodha** due to terrorism-related threats.
In the raids, CTD seized explosives, three IEDs, 19 detonators, 34 feet of safety fuse wire, pamphlets, cash, and prima cards. Among the arrested were high-risk militants, including one linked to Al-Qaeda from Lahore and four associated with **Fitna-ul-Khawarij** from Sargodha. The suspects were identified by names including Irfan, Zamin Ali, Mujahid Ali, Faisal, Shiraz, Nematullah, Usama, Ghulam Yaseen, Yasir, and Imran.
The CTD spokesperson said the terrorists were planning attacks to spread fear among the public. During one month, a total of 4,662 combing operations led to the arrest of 538 suspected individuals.
Authorities emphasized that timely intelligence allowed security forces to prevent major incidents. The CTD confirmed that counter-terrorism operations will continue with the same intensity, reaffirming their commitment to eradicating terrorism from the province.
