Pakistan Seeks Two-Year Extension of $1.2 Billion Saudi Oil Facility

Islamabad: Pakistan has requested Saudi Arabia to extend the **$1.2 billion Saudi Oil Facility (SOF)** for an additional two years after the expiry of its current term.

Senior government sources confirmed while speaking to *The News* that Pakistan has submitted a fresh request for the extension of the facility until the completion of the ongoing **International Monetary Fund (IMF) program**. The sources said Islamabad is now awaiting formal approval from Saudi authorities.

However, despite repeated contacts, the **Ministry of Petroleum** and the **Ministry of Finance** have refrained from commenting on the matter.

The Saudi Oil Facility has been a key source of support for Pakistan’s energy imports and foreign exchange management during periods of economic pressure.
