Apple to Cut iPhone Air Production After Demand Falls Below Expectations

California:Tech giant **Apple Inc.** has reportedly decided to **reduce production** of its latest model, the **iPhone Air**, after sales fell short of expectations.

The iPhone Air — launched in **September this year** — gained initial attention for being Apple’s **thinnest-ever iPhone**, with a sleek **5.6mm design**. However, despite the early buzz, demand has dropped significantly in the first quarter following its release.

According to renowned Apple analyst **Ming-Chi Kuo**, “After record-low demand for the iPhone Air, Apple is planning to **cut production by up to 80%** in the **first quarter of 2026**.”

Reports further suggest that the company is also **halting the supply of certain iPhone Air components** that require longer production timelines, with the **supply chain expected to wind down by late 2025**.

The decision marks a rare production adjustment for Apple, which typically maintains steady output across iPhone models despite short-term sales fluctuations. Analysts believe the reduced demand may be linked to **pricing, limited feature differentiation**, and **competition from older iPhone models** that continue to perform strongly in the market.
