Punjab Government Grants Conditional Permission for Kite Making Ahead of Basant in Four Districts

**Lahore:** Ahead of **Basant celebrations on February 6, 7, and 8**, the **Punjab government** has granted conditional permission for **kite-making** in **Lahore, Faisalabad, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Multan**.

According to a government spokesperson, the **Punjab Cabinet** approved the production of kite and string (dor) materials in these districts under the **Punjab Regulation of Kite Flying Act 2025**. Only **registered manufacturers** will be allowed to produce kites and strings.

All manufacturers in the four districts must **register with the relevant Deputy Commissioner** and also complete **mandatory online registration** through the **Punjab eBiz portal**. Registered manufacturers are permitted to produce kites and strings **strictly according to the Kite Flying Rules**.

The spokesperson added that the manufactured kites and strings **can only be sold to registered traders or sellers in Lahore** and will be allowed for use **only during Basant in Lahore on February 6, 7, and 8**.

The Punjab government clarified that **kite-making materials produced in Faisalabad, Kasur, Sheikhupura, and Multan cannot be sold or used in any other district**. Registration is granted only for manufacturers; **traders or sellers in these districts cannot register**.

Deputy Commissioners of the four districts have been instructed to **ensure compliance with the regulations**. Basant celebrations are **permitted only in Lahore**, and kite flying in any other district or before the scheduled dates is **strictly prohibited**.
