World Bank President Ajay Banga Arrives in Pakistan on Four-Day Visit

World Bank President Ajay Pal Singh Banga has arrived in Pakistan on a four-day official visit. During his stay, he visited Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal, accompanied by Federal Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora.
Ajay Banga, along with his delegation, offered special prayers at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib and also took langar (community meal) at the gurdwara.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora said that the visit of the World Bank president to Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib would send a positive message to the world. He emphasized that followers of all religions in Pakistan enjoy complete religious freedom.
He further stated that, on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, renovation and beautification work is underway at historic religious sites. He added that the Punjab government is taking practical steps to promote religious tourism.
Every year, thousands of local and foreign Sikh pilgrims visit Pakistan to perform religious rituals, especially on the occasion of Baisakhi, he noted.
Additional Secretary (Shrines) of the Evacuee Trust Property Board, Nasser Mushtaq, Additional Secretary for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Punjab Haider Abbas Wattoo, Commissioner Rawalpindi, City Police Officer Rawalpindi, Deputy Commissioner Attock, and other officials were also present during the visit.
