Pakistan T20 Captain Salman Ali Agha Promises to Play According to Game Demands Against Australia

LAHORE: Pakistan’s T20 captain Salman Ali Agha has said he will adapt his batting according to the demands of the game, ahead of the much-anticipated series against Australia.
Speaking on the PCB podcast, Salman Ali Agha said that he had to take 50 balls to promote the Australia series, emphasizing the significance of the high-profile contest. “We are excited to play the series in Lahore. Shaheen Afridi is fully fit and available for all matches,” he added.
Commenting on his approach under pressure, the captain said, “I perform better under pressure. In the match against Sri Lanka, playing aggressively was necessary due to the game situation. On that day, the ball was coming onto the bat and landing in the middle.”
Salman Ali Agha addressed misconceptions about his intent, saying, “If the game demands scoring 30 runs off 30 balls, you play accordingly. If the demand is 14–15 runs per over, I will play according to that.”
He also highlighted the team’s bowling depth, noting, “I bowl at the end and start, but there are enough bowlers in the team. Sahibzada Farhan has worked hard on his dot-ball bowling.”
Ahead of today’s first T20 match between Pakistan and Australia in Lahore, Salman Ali Agha confirmed that Sahibzada Farhan and Saem Ayub will open the innings. “When you play for Pakistan, you should be ready to bat at any position,” he said.
Regarding the playing XI, he stated, “Our first priority will be to play Usman Khan as wicketkeeper-batter. Criticism doesn’t affect me; I focus on playing good cricket.”
The remarks reflect Salman Ali Agha’s flexible approach and leadership strategy as Pakistan prepares to face Australia in a high-stakes T20 series.
