Balochistan Govt Decides Crackdown on Unlicensed and Substandard Child Nurseries: Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar

Quetta: The Balochistan government has decided to launch a strict crackdown against unlicensed and substandard child nurseries operating across the province, with the aim of ensuring child safety and protecting parents’ trust.

Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar took notice of a serious and alarming incident involving the alleged swapping of a child at a nursery in Quetta and ordered a high-level investigation into the matter.

He said that to ensure a transparent and impartial inquiry, the case has been handed over to the Balochistan Healthcare Commission. The minister further directed that a DNA test be conducted to establish the child’s identity and uncover all facts, so that the affected family can receive justice and no ambiguity remains.

Bakht Muhammad Kakar made it clear that a zero-tolerance policy will be strictly enforced against non-registered and substandard child nurseries. He emphasized that no negligence related to child safety will be tolerated, and indiscriminate action will be taken against those who undermine parents’ confidence.

The provincial health minister also directed authorities to carry out a comprehensive inspection of all child nurseries across the province and to expedite the licensing process, ensuring that only institutions meeting prescribed standards and legal requirements are allowed to operate.

He warned that nursery owners found violating laws and regulations will face strict legal action, adding that no leniency will be shown in this regard.
