PKMAP Condemns Drone Strikes in North Waziristan, Demands Immediate Cessation of Military Operations

Quetta:The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) has strongly condemned the recent drone strikes on public spaces in North Waziristan, resulting in the martyrdom of innocent civilians, including women and children. In a statement issued by the party’s central secretariat, it was highlighted that, in the past few days, drone attacks in residential areas of North Waziristan have led to the unjust killing of 17 women and children.

The statement questioned the justification for drone strikes when military presence is already established in both North and South Waziristan, with armed forces deployed on every mountain and checkposts established in each village. “If the aim of these strikes is to target terrorists, then why are innocent children and household women becoming victims and martyrs?” the statement asked.

The PKMAP emphasized that the people of FATA have been continuously protesting against drone strikes, but the attacks continue unabated, suggesting that the real purpose of these operations is not to eliminate terrorism, but rather to instill fear and terror in the tribal areas. The party further accused the military of attempting to forcibly displace the local population again, in order to gain easy access to the rich mineral resources of the region.

The PKMAP called for an immediate end to the drone strikes and unnecessary military operations in the tribal areas. The party demanded that the people’s right to security and protection of life and property be ensured.
