Playing Ramsha Khan’s Romantic Hero Was Embarrassing: Shahood Alvi

Islamabad: Renowned Pakistani actor Shahood Alvi has revealed that he felt deeply embarrassed while playing a romantic lead opposite actress Ramsha Khan in the drama “Ghisi Pitti Mohabbat.”
Shahood Alvi recently appeared as a guest on actress Ayesha Shah’s show, where he spoke candidly about his career, role selection, and the challenges he faced during certain projects.
During the conversation, Alvi said he consciously decided to start playing father and mature roles after realizing that romantic roles opposite much younger actresses were not suitable for his age. He explained that about seven years ago, Ramsha Khan was cast opposite him in a romantic role in Ghisi Pitti Mohabbat, even though her age was comparable to that of his daughter.
“I felt extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed,” he said, adding that he requested the director not to cast him in such roles. He noted that audiences would naturally question why an actor was not portraying roles appropriate to his age if seen romancing a much younger actress on screen.
Alvi shared that he initially refused the role, but later the script was revised and his character was changed into that of a married, older yet flirtatious man, which he felt was more age-appropriate.
He further remarked that in Pakistan, a hero’s on-screen lifespan is usually around 20 years, and actors who continue to forcefully play lead hero roles beyond that period are going against the natural course of their careers.
Shahood Alvi is regarded as one of Pakistan’s senior and accomplished actors, having delivered memorable performances in numerous popular television dramas.
