Major Power System Upgrades in Balochistan: Transmission Lines and Grid Stations Expanded in Quetta, Gwadar, Zhob, Turbat, and Other Districts

Quetta: Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) has successfully completed dozens of multi-crore development projects across Balochistan, marking a significant upgrade in the province’s electricity transmission and distribution system. These initiatives have substantially addressed voltage drops and tripping issues.
Under the supervision of QESCO CEO Engineer Yousuf Shah Khan, the projects included the installation of high-capacity power transformers at 132kV grid stations in areas such as Marriabad, Dera Bugti, Turbat, Nushki, Hoshab, Usta Mohammad, and Zhob, stabilizing electricity supply in these regions. Load balancing was also achieved through interlinking and shifting of various feeders in Muslim Bagh, Sanjawi, Washuk, and Khash.
In Quetta, overloaded feeders were bifurcated and capacitor banks were installed on 18 feeders. Additionally, in coastal areas of Gwadar, Pasni, and Ormara, 319 new HT poles were installed under the ELR and DOP programs, and seven major feeders underwent reconductoring to relieve transformer overload.
QESCO completed all these projects using its own development funds, reflecting a major step toward a more stable and reliable power network across Balochistan.
