Deputy Prime Minister Visits Bangladesh High Commission, Vows to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

**Islamabad:** Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, where he expressed deep condolences to the Acting High Commissioner on the passing of former Bangladeshi prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

According to an official report issued from Islamabad, Ishaq Dar conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and expressed solidarity with them in this time of grief. He said Pakistan stands with the people of Bangladesh during this difficult moment.

During the visit, the deputy prime minister also met a delegation of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and the two sides discussed ways to further promote friendly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Ishaq Dar recalled that he had visited Bangladesh in August 2025, marking the first visit by a Pakistani federal minister in the past 12 years. The Acting High Commissioner appreciated Ishaq Dar’s positive role and cooperation in strengthening bilateral ties.

The deputy prime minister shared that despite her illness, Begum Khaleda Zia had invited him to her residence for a meeting, during which she showed warmth, kindness, and sincerity.

He said Pakistan has always maintained cordial relations with Begum Khaleda Zia and her party, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening relations with Bangladesh through mutual respect and cooperation.
