Pakistan Railways Freight Sector Achieves Record Revenue

Lahore: Pakistan Railways’ freight sector has achieved a record revenue of Rs17 billion in just six months, marking a major milestone for the national rail service.
According to a Pakistan Railways spokesperson, the freight sector continued strong performance despite strikes, generating more than Rs3 billion in revenue in both November and December.
Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that by the end of the current financial year, Pakistan Railways is expected to earn over Rs38 billion from the freight sector alone. He added that in 2026, Pakistan Railways will become a trillion-rupee revenue institution for the first time in its history.
The railways minister also assured passengers that by the end of 2026, all trains would be upgraded to provide a better and safer travel experience. He said passenger comfort and safety would remain top priorities.
Muhammad Hanif Abbasi further announced that cameras would be installed in trains in 2026 and the entire railway system would be fully digitized. He added that the Railway Police has been given modern training to ensure passengers feel secure during their journeys.
