38th Death Anniversary of Abdul Razzaq Khan Dottani to Be Observed on January 9; Central Gathering in Loralai: PkNAP

**Quetta:** Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PkNAP) has announced that the 38th death anniversary of its former Central General Secretary and prominent Pashtun national political leader, the late Abdul Razzaq Khan Dottani, will be observed with due respect and reverence on January 9 under the party’s auspices.

According to a press release issued by the PkNAP Central Secretariat, a central condolence public gathering will be held in Loralai on January 9, where central and provincial leaders of the party will address the participants. The party has appealed to the public to attend the gathering in large numbers to pay tribute to the late leader’s historic role in the Pashtun national movement. Party workers have also been directed to make full preparations for the event.

The statement said that Abdul Razzaq Khan Dottani was a great, visionary, and ideological leader of the Pashtun-Afghan national political movement, who played a historic and unforgettable role in uniting, organizing, and strengthening the Pashtun national struggle during the 1970s and 1980s. At a time when bringing together diverse ideological and popular forces was extremely challenging, he transformed this vision into reality through political wisdom, intellectual depth, and sincere struggle.

The press release highlighted that key political milestones—such as the alliance between Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party and Pashtunkhwa Mazdoor Kisan Party, and later the formation of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Ittehad—were the result of his historic efforts. His passing on January 9, 1988, was described as an irreparable loss for the Pashtun-Afghan nation and the broader national democratic movement.

PkNAP stated that the late leader laid strong intellectual and practical foundations for uniting national movement parties on national and homeland-based principles. He firmly believed that Pashtunkhwa was a subjugated homeland, and that national unity, self-determination, and the establishment of a united Pashtunkhwa province were essential. He also considered the independence, freedom, and territorial integrity of Afghanistan vital for regional peace and the survival of nations.

The statement further said that Abdul Razzaq Khan Dottani believed in establishing a representative national political party in Pashtunkhwa on ideological, scientific, and intellectual grounds, supported by patriotic people from all walks of life. Although he passed away at a young age, his ideological legacy continues to guide national politics.

PkNAP noted that institutions such as Pashtunkhwa MAP, Pashtun Rahbar Committee, and Pashtunkhwa National Alliance were formed in continuation of his vision to unite all national and democratic forces of Pashtunkhwa into a single organized party or a united national front. In the same spirit, the joint front of oppressed Pashtun, Baloch, Sindhi, and Saraiki nations—PONAM—played a historic role in advocating a voluntary federation, equality among nations, national ownership of resources, and a true federal parliamentary democratic system in Pakistan.

The statement regretted that due to the irresponsible political conduct of a former chairman of Pashtunkhwa MAP, the historic party suffered internal divisions. However, it added that PkNAP has consistently carried forward the national struggle with resilience and determination.

In conclusion, PkNAP reaffirmed that it will spare no sacrifice to fulfill the national aspirations of Abdul Razzaq Khan Dottani and other great national leaders, including Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai, Bacha Khan, Kakaji Sanober Hussain Momand, Abdul Rahim Mandokhail, Sher Ali Bacha, Sain Kamal Khan Sherani, Abdul Razzaq Khan Dottani, and national martyr Usman Khan Kakar, and will continue the struggle for national freedom, self-determination, and democratic rights under all circumstances.
