Record Surge in Heart Patients in Balochistan; Over 400 Surgeries Performed in 11 Months

**Quetta:** Balochistan has witnessed a significant increase in heart disease cases over the past three years, with 2025 seeing an unprecedented rise compared to the previous two years. According to a report from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Institute of Cardiology in Quetta, more than 400 cardiac surgeries were performed in the past 11 months alone.
Since January 2025, nearly 80,000 patients have sought treatment at the institute, with additional patients visiting other government and private hospitals within the province or traveling outside Balochistan for care. Hospital administrators highlighted that a notable number of pediatric patients are also being treated for heart conditions.
Health experts attribute the surge in cardiac cases to factors such as poor hygiene practices, unbalanced diets, sedentary lifestyles, and lack of preventive measures. The report warns that without increased public awareness and improved healthcare strategies, the burden of heart disease in the province is expected to grow further.
