Good News for Karachi Residents: Fear of Flour Price Hike Ends

Karachi – The Sindh government has canceled orders to supply wheat to traders following threats of protest by flour mill owners, easing fears of a potential increase in flour prices in Karachi.
According to the Flour Mills Association, an emergency communication from the Food Department halted all wheat challans issued to traders. Traders will still be able to collect wheat against previously issued challans. The cancellation of the notification has removed concerns over rising flour prices in the city.
Flour mill owners had announced strong protests against the distribution of wheat to traders, warning that it could lead to shortages after January 15. The government revoked the notification before the second deadline given by the mill owners expired. Meanwhile, the Sindh government had already removed the Secretary of the Food Department from their position.
The decision has been welcomed by both traders and consumers, as it ensures continuity of wheat supply and stabilizes flour prices in Karachi.
