PTI Social Media Incitement Violates UK and International Laws, Not Free Speech: Ministers

Islamabad:** Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has stated that incitement originating from PTI-linked social media accounts is neither a political issue nor an exercise of freedom of expression, but a clear violation of British and international laws.
Talal Chaudhry said it is the responsibility of every state to ensure that individuals operating from its territory do not engage in activities that incite rebellion or violence against another sovereign country. He expressed hope that the United Kingdom would take action in this matter, while also making it clear that Pakistan has other options available if required.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani strongly condemned threats made against the Army Chief under the guise of political protest by PTI supporters. He termed such threats completely unacceptable and said that PTI is resorting to violence and intimidation in the name of politics.
It is noteworthy that the Government of Pakistan has formally written to the British government, demanding action against PTI-affiliated social media accounts circulating videos that allegedly contain threats to assassinate the Army Chief. The letter urges the UK authorities to take action against all such accounts attempting to promote terrorism, violence, and instability in Pakistan.
The letter further states that platforms linked to PTI have been consistently spreading unrest and calls for violence, and calls on the British government to identify those involved, conduct investigations, and initiate legal proceedings against individuals issuing threats of murder and violence.
