PTI Leader Aleema Khan Questions Legal Double Standards in Toshakhana Case

Rawalpindi: PTI leader Aleema Khan has raised concerns over alleged double standards in the Toshakhana case, questioning why former Prime Minister Imran Khan received a 17-year prison sentence while Maryam Nawaz faced no action for taking a vehicle from the Toshakhana.
Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi alongside her lawyer Faisal Malik, Alima Khan said that the verdict against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi was unjust. She criticized the legal system, saying, “The Toshakhana case is bogus. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced for allegedly undervaluing a gift, yet no action was taken against Maryam Nawaz for taking a car from Toshakhana. Law in Pakistan has become a mockery.”
Alima Khan also defended her actions during the peaceful protest called by Imran Khan on November 22 last year, stating that she was wrongly accused of transmitting the party chief’s message to the public. She alleged that false witnesses were presented against them and said, “Justice in Pakistan is no longer served, even though there are good judges whose voices are ignored.”
She emphasized Imran Khan’s commitment to the rule of law, noting that he has faced imprisonment for over two and a half years and has consistently said he will confront his cases rather than flee the country. Alima Khan further criticized judges issuing wrongful verdicts, claiming some leave the country on private jets, while citizens remain punished.
On party matters, Alima Khan said that the “Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain” conference resolutions were not known to her. She added that party leaders advocating negotiations are not aligned with Imran Khan, who represents 90 percent of PTI members.
Her lawyer, Faisal Malik, stated that no evidence exists against Alima Khan in the November 26 case. He added that despite their request for her acquittal, witness statements were recorded, reflecting what he described as politically motivated legal action.
Alima Khan concluded by reaffirming her loyalty to Imran Khan and the party’s stance, highlighting that all actions are aimed at protecting the party chief and upholding his message to the public.
