Jailed PTI Leadership at Kot Lakhpat Jail Reaffirms Support for Dialogue

Lahore: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership imprisoned at Kot Lakhpat Jail has once again expressed support for dialogue and negotiations as the only viable way forward amid the country’s ongoing crises.

In a letter sent to the media through their lawyer, the jailed PTI leaders emphasized the need for peaceful engagement. The signatories of the letter include Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mian Mahmood-ur-Rashid.

According to the letter, Pakistan has been facing severe political, economic, and social crises for the past three years and eight months, and it is the responsibility of every patriot to prioritize the country’s interests and pursue objectives through peaceful means.

The imprisoned PTI leaders stated that, in their view, dialogue at all levels is the only solution, stressing that negotiations can help steer both Pakistan in general and PTI in particular out of the prevailing crisis.

The letter further noted that the founder of PTI has tasked the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain (Movement for the Protection of the Constitution) with finding solutions through consultation with national political parties. The leaders described broad-based consultation as, in effect, an opening of the door to negotiations.

They expressed hope that Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir would provide guidance to the nation in the current situation.

The letter was conveyed to the media through PTI leaders’ counsel, Rana Mudassir.
