Mir Israrullah Zehri Condemns Violent Suppression of Baloch Unity Convoy in Mastung, Calls Government Actions Against Peaceful Protesters a Gross Violation
Quetta:According to a central statement by the Balochistan National Party (Awami), the party’s leader and former federal minister Nawabzada Mir Israrullah Zehri strongly denounced the firing on the Baloch Unity Committee’s convoy in Mastung, which resulted in multiple injuries. He asserted that using force cannot intimidate the people and that the coercive attitude towards peaceful participants in the Gwadar rally, leading to injuries among innocent civilians, is a fundamental human rights violation.
Mir Israrullah Zehri termed the violent attack on the peaceful convoy as atrocious, shameful, and condemnable. He expressed concern over the consistent turmoil faced by Balochistan and accused the government of wanting to witness bloodshed in the region. Highlighting the government’s non-seriousness in handling the situation, he stated that this flagrant disregard for the Constitution of Pakistan and human rights is unacceptable.
Speaking to the media, Nawabzada Mir Israrullah Khan Zehri said, “The government aims to instill fear in the Baloch people by using brute force. Injuring Baloch women and numerous youth in Mastung during the peaceful rally in Gwadar is a heinous act. The intention behind stopping us forcefully and shedding the blood of innocent youth is to suppress protests by Baloch and oppressed ethnic groups in Pakistan.”
He emphasized that freedom of the press is crucial and criticized the denigration of journalism, asserting that the media plays a vital role in bringing positive change and development to any society. The most widely read newspaper in Balochistan, Daily Intikhab, has condemned the government’s use of advertisements to undermine the credibility of journalism.
Furthermore, Mir Israrullah Zehri assured that the Balochistan National Party (Awami) remains committed to safeguarding the rights and interests of the Baloch people and Balochistan. He vowed that every injustice against Balochistan will be challenged, and the party will continue its united political struggle. He stressed the urgent need for political unity among Balochistan’s leadership to thwart such incidents and uphold national agendas.
