Judiciary Decides to Introduce New Mechanism on Enforced Disappearances

**Islamabad:** The National Judicial Policy Making Committee has agreed on establishing an effective institutional response to cases of enforced disappearances.
According to Geo News, a meeting of the Judicial Policy Making Committee was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi. The committee decided to introduce a new mechanism under which it will be mandatory to produce an arrested suspect before a magistrate within 24 hours, with strict action to be taken in case of non-compliance.
In a statement, the committee also decided to implement a Commercial Litigation Corridor to ensure expeditious disposal of commercial cases. It was emphasized that strict adherence to prescribed timelines for decisions will be ensured.
The committee reiterated its resolve to strengthen the judicial system through timely justice delivery and effective institutional reforms.
