Stop Supporting Terrorism or Face Consequences, DG ISPR Warns Anti-State Elements

Rawalpindi: Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry delivered a strongly worded warning to those abetting terrorism, declaring that support for militancy must end or perpetrators should be ready to face the consequences.

Addressing journalists, the DG ISPR revealed that **1,873 terrorists were killed across Pakistan this year**, including **136 Afghan nationals**. He said the security forces conducted **67,023 intelligence-based operations (IBOs)** in 2025—**12,857 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa** and **53,309 in Balochistan**.

Since **November 4**, he added, **4,910 operations** had been carried out, resulting in the killing of **206 terrorists**.

### **Challenging Terrain and Border Security Gaps**

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif highlighted the complexity of securing the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, describing it as one of the world’s most difficult terrains.
He said the **1,229-kilometre border** has **20 official crossing points**, and the distance between border posts—**20 to 25 kilometres**—complicates effective monitoring.
Border fencing, he stressed, is only effective when supported by **strong surveillance and fire coverage**. In KP, villages on both sides of the border are split, making movement control extremely challenging.

### **Serious Allegations of Afghan Taliban Facilitation**

The DG ISPR issued grave accusations against the Afghan Taliban administration, stating that border management is a shared global responsibility but the interim Afghan government is **actively assisting terrorists entering Pakistan**.
He said governance gaps in Afghan border districts have turned the region into fertile ground for terrorism.

### **Financing, Facilitating and Arming Terrorists**

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said Pakistan is responsible for stopping cross-border infiltration, smuggling, and the inflow of illegal vehicles—many of which are later used in suicide attacks.
He reiterated Pakistan’s position that the Afghan Taliban must **immediately halt support for militant groups**. Al-Qaeda, Daesh, and other banned outfits continue to operate from Afghan soil, he added, with leadership elements plotting attacks inside Pakistan.
Islamabad has shared **complete evidence** with Kabul and demanded verifiable action.

He said Pakistan would not object to creating a **third-party-verified mechanism** to monitor cross-border militancy, adding that this has already been communicated to relevant mediator countries.

Rejecting Taliban claims that terrorists are “guests of Pakistan,” the DG ISPR called such assertions **illogical and baseless**.
