Pakistan Ready to Support Saudi Arabia ‘Whenever Needed’: PM’s Spokesperson

Islamabad — Pakistan is prepared to support Saudi Arabia whenever required, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s spokesperson Musharraf Zaidi said in an interview with Bloomberg on Wednesday.
Speaking to Bloomberg TV, Zaidi emphasized the long-standing security partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, stating that Islamabad would stand by Riyadh “whenever and however needed.”
He highlighted a strategic mutual defense agreement signed between the two countries in September last year, which strengthened security cooperation. Under the agreement, any aggression against one country would be considered aggression against both.

Zaidi added that even before the formal agreement, the two nations had historically supported each other in times of need.
He also noted that Pakistan is actively pursuing diplomatic efforts to prevent the ongoing conflict from spreading across the region. According to him, Islamabad’s priority is to ensure that tensions do not escalate further and destabilize the wider region.
The remarks come amid rising tensions in the Middle East, where Iran has launched missile and drone attacks against Gulf states following strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets. The conflict has already pushed global energy markets higher and raised fears of broader regional instability.
