_Spike in Alleged Police Encounters Leaves 11 Suspects Dead in Single Day

A rise in alleged encounters involving the Crime Control Department (CCD) has been reported across Punjab, with multiple incidents occurring in a single day that left 11 suspects dead.
According to police officials, a total of five separate encounters took place in different cities, including Lahore, where six suspects were killed in operations carried out in the Defence, Iqbal Town, and Chuhang areas.
In Sheikhupura, three wanted suspects were killed during an exchange of fire between CCD personnel and alleged criminals, while another two suspects were reported dead in a separate encounter in Sahiwal.
Police stated that the operations targeted individuals involved in serious criminal activities, including robbery and other offences. However, such frequent encounters have also raised concerns and debates over the use of force and law enforcement practices in the region.
