Over 93,000 E-Challans Issued in Karachi Within First 30 Days

KARACHI: The enforcement of the e-challan system in Karachi has completed 30 days, during which more than 93,000 traffic fines were issued for various violations.
According to official data, the highest number of violations — **57,541** — were recorded for not wearing seat belts. Meanwhile, **22,227 motorcyclists** were fined for not wearing helmets.
Using trackers installed in dumpers, trailers, and water tankers, authorities issued **1,188 challans** for overspeeding, while **2,699 other vehicles** were also fined for the same offense.
Additionally, **3,102 motorists** were penalized for violating traffic signals.
The report further revealed that **1,278 vehicles** were fined for using fancy number plates and **1,178 vehicles** for tinted windows. Another **611 challans** were issued for stop-line violations, and **426 drivers** were penalized for driving in the wrong direction.
According to Karachi Traffic Police, fines amounting to **Rs 575.41 million** were imposed for seat belt violations, **Rs 111.135 million** for riding without helmets, and **Rs 29.45 million** for vehicles using tinted windows.
