Lahore Tops List of Most Polluted Cities as Smog Worsens Across Punjab

LAHORE: Air pollution continues to blanket Lahore and several other cities across Punjab, with hazardous smog levels posing severe health risks.

According to global environmental monitoring websites, Lahore remains the most polluted city in the province, recording an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 331 — a level considered dangerous for public health.

Other cities in Punjab are also experiencing toxic air conditions. Kasur reported an AQI of 327, Narowal reached 313, while particulate matter levels in Sheikhupura were recorded at 292.

Globally, Lahore ranked as the **6th most polluted city**, while Karachi stood at **14th**, based on the latest air quality measurements.

Meanwhile, due to dense fog, Motorway M1 has been closed from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Burhan for safety reasons. Authorities have advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautionary measures.
