Saifullah Abro Knew the ‘Price’ of His Decision but Voted by Conscience: Ishaq Dar

**ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily)** — Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that while voting against the party line constitutes defection, a vote cast according to one’s conscience still holds validity.

Speaking during a Senate session, Ishaq Dar stated, “The clause on defection is clear — voting against the party line is defection, but if a member votes according to their conscience, that vote is counted.” He added that every member knows the “price” of such a decision. “Saifullah Abro knew he would have to pay a price, yet he voted according to his conscience,” Dar remarked.

According to *Geo News*, the Foreign Minister further explained that a verbal resignation carries no legal weight until it is submitted in writing. “Until the Election Commission de-notifies a member, their membership remains intact,” he said.

Dar also took a swipe at political opponents, saying, “Some people play politics in a way that their videos end up leading them to Adiala Jail.”
