PkMAP Says IMF Report Has Dealt a Serious Blow to Pakistan’s Internal and External Credibility

Quetta — The Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has expressed deep concern over the latest IMF report, stating that it has severely damaged Pakistan’s internal and external reputation, creating a moment of serious reflection for the country’s 250 million citizens.
In a press release issued by the party’s central secretariat, PkMAP claimed that the “manipulation” of the February 8, 2024 election results through Form-47 was aimed at installing preferred elements through force, granting them a free hand in corruption. The statement further alleged that these “unelected and imposed” individuals attempted to undermine the foundations of the unanimously agreed federal constitution and concentrate all constitutional powers in the hands of one individual — a development repeatedly highlighted by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan.
The party stated that the 27th Constitutional Amendment could not have been passed by a legitimate parliament with a true public mandate. It argued that Pakistan’s establishment, which has allegedly pursued centralized control since the country’s inception, weakened the parliament through the 2024 election, eroding the first pillar of the state.
PkMAP claimed the 26th and 27th amendments further stripped powers from the Supreme Court and High Courts, transferring authority to newly created federal and provincial constitutional courts — effectively rendering the existing judiciary powerless. The party also accused the military establishment of controlling administrative functions, with civil bureaucracy being reduced to a symbolic presence.
The press release warned that international institutions such as Amnesty International and now the IMF have highlighted massive financial irregularities, which could push Pakistan closer to FATF scrutiny. The party alleged that the “incompetent and imposed” ruling setup has placed the nation’s credibility at serious risk, worsening the situation for already struggling citizens.
PkMAP stated that the only way forward is to end the rule of what it termed the “Form-47–based artificial parliament” and the “unconstitutional amendments” introduced by it. The party demanded fresh, transparent, and impartial elections free from interference by any state agencies. It emphasized that the authority of the country must return to the people, with a genuinely elected parliament serving as the ultimate source of power under the unanimously agreed Constitution of Pakistan.
