State’s Harassment of Baloch Political Workers During Baloch Raji Machi Preparations

Quetta: The National Democratic Party’s central spokesperson issued a statement condemning the state of Balochistan’s ongoing intimidation tactics against political workers during preparations for the Baloch Raji Machi. The spokesperson highlighted that the state’s actions, including bogus FIRs, unlawful arrests, and forced disappearances, constitute a grave violation of constitutional rights.

The spokesperson asserted that Balochistan has been treated as a colony by the state since day one, subjecting Baloch people to a perpetual third-class citizenship. Despite decades of struggle entering a new phase for Baloch people, the state and its affiliated agencies continue their oppressive and exploitative tactics. Rampant coastal and resource plundering has accompanied severe human rights abuses.

The spokesperson emphasized that it is the historical right of the Baloch nation not to compromise on its geographical boundaries or relinquish its ancestral lands. They expressed concern that the state is attempting to intimidate Baloch people into submission or offering partial appeasement while continuing their suppression.

According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, any nation or individual within any region is entitled to fundamental human, social, and political rights. The spokesperson criticized the Pakistani state for consistently violating these rights in the region, intimidating, threatening, and falsely accusing those who speak out.

Concluding the statement, the spokesperson warned that during preparations for “Baloch Raji Machi,” the state and its institutions are regressing to old practices of harassment, filing false FIRs, enforced disappearances, and severe human rights violations. They urged state institutions to realize that the Baloch national struggle has reached a point where intimidating or threatening the Baloch people will not force them to relinquish their national rights.
