PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Afghan Government to Act Against TTP, Offers Pakistan’s Cooperation

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister **Shehbaz Sharif** has stated that **Pakistan is ready to cooperate** if the Afghan government takes effective action against the **banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)** and other terrorist groups.
Addressing the **opening ceremony of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference**, the Prime Minister emphasized that **peace and stability are the foundation of sustainable development**. *“Development is only possible in a society where security and peace prevail,”* he said.
He highlighted that Pakistan has repeatedly faced **anti-peace actions** but has consistently shown commitment to **stability and national defense**, with the armed forces successfully **thwarting enemy designs through professional conduct**.
PM Shehbaz Sharif recalled recent incidents, noting that in **May this year**, unprovoked attacks occurred along Pakistan’s eastern border, and last month, **Pakistani posts were attacked from Afghan soil**. He said Pakistan responded with **firm and decisive measures**.
*“Afghanistan must understand that supporting the banned TTP will not bring peace. If the Afghan government acts effectively against the TTP and other terrorist groups, Pakistan is ready to cooperate,”* he added.
The **two-day Inter-Parliamentary Conference** in Islamabad includes delegations from **Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kenya, Palestine, Morocco, Rwanda, Liberia, Barbados, and Nepal**. The event aims to **promote global peace, development, and strengthen international parliamentary ties**.
