Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to integrate the **Peoples Bus Service** and the upcoming **Electric Vehicle (EV) Taxi Service** with the **Safe City Network** to strengthen urban security, improve traffic management, and enhance public safety across major cities, including Karachi.
Senior Provincial Minister **Sharjeel Inam Memon** announced that cameras installed under the **Intelligent Transport System (ITS)** in both the Peoples Bus and EV Taxi services will be connected to the Safe City surveillance system. He said the integration aims to ensure safer public transport and modernize security infrastructure in urban areas.
“With this initiative, traffic management, security monitoring, and public safety measures in Karachi and other major cities will significantly improve,” Sharjeel Memon stated.
He further added that the Sindh government is making all-out efforts to **launch the EV Taxi Service by December**, providing citizens with an affordable, safe, and eco-friendly transport option.
Meanwhile, a delegation of investors met with the minister in Karachi to discuss the **EV Taxi project’s structure**, establishment of **charging stations**, and **operational models**. The meeting was also attended by **Transport Secretary Asad Zamin**, **Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kanwal Nazim Bhutto**, and other officials.
Minister Memon said that Sindh, particularly Karachi, urgently needs a modern and efficient transportation network. “The EV Taxi Service will offer a comfortable travel experience at low fares and serve as an attractive investment opportunity for the private sector,” he remarked.
Initially, the EV Taxi Service will be launched in Karachi before being expanded to other major cities of Sindh. Memon also revealed plans to introduce a **‘Pink EV Taxi Service’** exclusively for women, ensuring a safe and comfortable commuting experience.
He added that the EV Taxi fleet will be equipped with modern monitoring systems and ITS technology to maintain efficiency, transparency, and passenger safety.
Sharjeel Memon emphasized that the Sindh government views **public-private partnership** as crucial for promoting sustainable transport and improving the environment. “The EV Taxi initiative will not only provide public convenience but also contribute to the province’s economic growth,” he concluded.
