Digital Payments in Pakistan Surge During FY2024-25: State Bank Report

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily)** —
The **State Bank of Pakistan (SBP)** has released its **Annual Review for FY2024-25**, highlighting remarkable progress in the country’s digital payment ecosystem.

According to the report, **digital transactions in Pakistan rose significantly** during the last fiscal year, with a sharp increase in the use of **mobile and internet banking platforms**. Total payments reached **9.1 billion transactions** valued at **PKR 612 trillion**, reflecting a **38% year-on-year growth in transaction volume** and a **12% increase in value**.

The SBP noted a growing preference for **mobile banking apps, internet banking, and e-money wallets** for day-to-day payments, which collectively accounted for **88% of total digital transactions**.

**Mobile banking** led the digital landscape with **6.2 billion transactions**, followed by **internet banking portals**, which processed **297 million transactions**. Both the **volume and value** of transactions saw nearly **double-digit growth** during the year.

The **Point of Sale (POS)** network also expanded considerably, reaching **159,284 merchants** and **195,849 retail stores**, while **daily card payments averaged one million transactions**. Meanwhile, the **ATM network** grew by **7%**, bringing the total number of machines to **20,341** across the country.

The report reflects Pakistan’s **accelerating shift toward digital finance**, supported by technological innovation and broader adoption of cashless payment solutions.
