NCCIA Deputy Director’s Disappearance Case Takes New Turn as Shocking Revelations Emerge in Court

Islamabad: The case concerning the recovery of NCCIA Deputy Director Usman has taken a dramatic turn, with startling revelations emerging during a hearing at the Islamabad High Court.
The hearing, held on the petition filed by Usman’s wife for his recovery, saw DSP Legal Sajid Cheema inform the court that a corruption case had been registered against Deputy Director Usman. His arrest, physical remand, and his 161 statement have all been officially recorded.
DSP Legal told the court that Usman submitted a written statement claiming he went into hiding due to an internal inquiry. Usman is accused of accepting a bribe of PKR 150 million from a TikToker. His 161 statement also confirms that he voluntarily went into hiding.
The police requested the court to dismiss the recovery petition.
However, the petitioner’s lawyer, Rizwan Abbasi, argued that the matter cannot be dismissed so easily. He stated that Usman was missing for 15 days, and even after the High Court ordered his recovery, an FIR was filed and he was presented in Lahore. Abbasi requested that Usman be produced in the High Court and that the DG FIA be summoned personally.
Justice Azam Khan questioned how this could be done, noting that Usman is on physical remand in Lahore and is a resident there, making it difficult to summon him to Islamabad.
The lawyer further claimed that Usman was abducted from the High Court’s jurisdiction and that video evidence exists showing four men taking him from Islamabad. He added that the petitioner’s wife is still missing due to fear. According to the lawyer, the police intentionally misled the court, first forcing Usman to sign a blank sheet and then preparing a handwritten statement that is not in Usman’s handwriting.
Abbasi stated that this is not an isolated tactic, as there have been multiple cases where individuals are abducted and then formally arrested after being held illegally. He questioned the DG FIA’s authority to authorize an abduction.
DSP Legal maintained that Usman accepted PKR 150 million from a TikToker, while the lawyer countered that whether it was 150 million or 500 million, due process must be followed.
The police requested that the petition be dismissed, noting that an inquiry against Usman is still ongoing.
After hearing the arguments, the Islamabad High Court reserved its verdict.
