Kashmiris Observe Black Day to Mark 78 Years of Indian Occupation of Jammu and Kashmir

ISLAMABAD/MUZAFFARABAD:Kashmiris on both sides of the **Line of Control (LoC)** and around the world are observing **Black Day** today to mark **78 years of India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir**.

The day is being commemorated with renewed pledges to continue the struggle for self-determination and freedom from Indian rule.

At **10 a.m.**, a **one-minute silence** was observed across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to honor the **martyrs of Kashmir’s freedom movement**.

Rallies, seminars, and solidarity walks are being held across the country, including major demonstrations in **Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, Lahore, and Karachi**, to express unity with the oppressed people of Indian-occupied Kashmir.

In the federal capital, banners inscribed with slogans such as *“Kashmir will become Pakistan”* have been displayed along **Constitution Avenue**, **Parliament House**, and **D-Chowk**. The **Ministry of Foreign Affairs** led a solidarity walk from its headquarters to D-Chowk, where participants called on the **international community** to take notice of **India’s grave human rights violations** in the occupied valley.

October 27, 1947, marks the day when **Indian forces landed in Jammu and Kashmir**, occupying large parts of the region — an act widely condemned by Kashmiris as an illegal annexation.
