Federal Government Announces Official Holidays for 2026

Islamabad: The federal government has announced the schedule of public and optional holidays for the year 2026. The Cabinet Division released the list of general holidays for national, Islamic, and minority festivals.

According to the schedule, the first holiday of the year will be Kashmir Day on Thursday, February 5, followed by Pakistan Day on Monday, March 23.

Eid-ul-Fitr holidays will be observed on March 21, 22, and 23, while International Labour Day falls on May 1. Youm-e-Takbeer will be observed on May 28. Eid-ul-Azha holidays are set for May 27, 28, and 29, and 9th and 10th Muharram (June 24 and 25) will also be public holidays.

Independence Day will be on Friday, August 14, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi on Tuesday, August 25. Allama Iqbal’s Birthday falls on Monday, November 9, while Quaid-e-Azam’s Birthday and Christmas are observed on December 25, with December 26 designated as a holiday for the Christian community.

Additionally, January 1, February 18, and July 1 will be observed as bank holidays.

This schedule allows citizens to plan for national and religious observances throughout 2026.
