Ismail Darbar Says He Won’t Stay Silent if Something About Gauahar Khan Bothers Him

MUMBAI: Renowned Indian music composer and lyricist **Ismail Darbar**, father of Zaid Darbar and father-in-law of actress **Gauahar Khan**, has said that he reserves the right to stop his daughter-in-law from taking on certain work if he deems it inappropriate.

Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar tied the knot in **2020**. The couple welcomed their **first son, Zehaan**, three years later, and their **second son** was born in **September this year**.

According to Indian media reports, Ismail Darbar stated that although he **cannot stop Gauahar from working**, there are **some things he cannot tolerate**. “If something bothers me, I won’t remain silent — I will speak to Gauahar directly,” he said.

Sharing an example from his own family, Darbar mentioned that his wife **Ayesha quit her career to focus on their children**, despite having a good income.

He added that he comes from a **traditional and conservative family**, where **bold or explicit scenes are disapproved of**. “Gauahar is now part of our family, and it is everyone’s responsibility to uphold our family’s respect and dignity,” he remarked.

However, the veteran composer clarified that **Gauahar and Zaid share a very good relationship**, describing the actress as a **wonderful mother**. “I cannot order her to stop working — that right belongs only to Zaid,” he said.

“I am a straightforward person,” Ismail Darbar concluded. “If something crosses my limits of tolerance, I simply cannot stay quiet.”
